Background Info
In a 7-day game jam, members wanted to test if we could work well for our future capstone project.
However, a lot of us got a horrible cold at different times during the jam, including me. Although we couldn't work 100%, we are all impressed with the amount of progress and communication we made.
The goal was to make a portfolio piece for everyone and publish the game on itch.io at the end of the jam. The team could later decide if the game is worth further progress in the future.
Objective
We were all tasked with making small prototypes for what the game and level layout would look like. I made storyboards to visualize specific mechanics that focus on stealth and team cooperation.
I took the lead in making the low-poly environment, which meant a lot of the rock architecture and some mechanics. My tasks also included rigging the player characters and making all their animations, and implementing them into Unity.
This concept art was created to determine the main layout and general aesthetic of the game. The repeating properties throughout the images are a large room with distinct sections for each level, and the use of cool-toned colours for the cave contrasts with the warm, glowing treasure. Some have discerning details such as a moat, water, and gold coins covering the floor.
We chose to reference the top left corner drawing for its simplicity and deep contrast with the environment and interactables.
